Personal Safety in your home and while away

On May 9, 2012, Officer Heather Galli of the Upper Arlington Police Department spoke to the CMAA members about constant vigilance and awareness of surroundings. She suggested some things to do to deter breach of home security: 1) Always make it a habit to check the windows, doors and garage door prior to bed time 2) Do not open door when someone is knocking at night or early morning, call 911 3) ask for ID from service personnel (water, gas, electric, cable) 4) install security alarm system 5) Never leave keys in the car 6) request for house watch from the police department when going on vacation 7) keep keys,handbags and purses out of sight 8) stop mail and newspaper delivery while on vacation 9) report any suspicious activity in the neighborhood to the police 10) keep ladder in the garage or out of sight
